UnitySync’s Source and Destination tabs each have a Test button that allows you to test authentication to the target directory. If the user name and password are correct, you will receive a successful authentication message. If the user name and password are incorrect, you will get a Can Not Authenticate message.

Most often, a Can Not Authenticate error is simply caused by a bad user name and password combination. However, there isone other known cause for an authentication error against AD.

In the AD User account Properties, there may be specific servers identified in the Log On To parameter of the Account tab. If your target DC is not listed, attempts to authenticate to that host will result in an error. In this case you should add the hostname of the target DC to the Log On To list, or change the setting to allow the User to logon to All Computers.
