====Selective permissions for use of specific Profiler functions

For each Profiler installation and IIS Virtual Directory, you can define the characteristics for standard users (i.e. whether or not they can change their password) and Profiler Admins (i.e. What Profiler Admin type functions may be employed and at what scope).

Generally, you would configure your first Profiler instance with as much functionality as is reasonable for mass use by your user pool. Using this approach will allow you to limit the need for special configurations that would require multiple installs of Profiler.

NOTE: //These multiple installs of Profiler would not require the purchase of additional domain licenses. The domain is the same in each case, what is different is the installation directory. What is necessary is additional Profiler management. You are effectively maintaining multiple Profiler instances with varying levels of permissions. This can be a lot of overhead and not recommended unless the need for it really outweighs the level of effort required.//

The only way to support multiple forms with varying functionalityi is to install Profiler multiple times. A unique install directory and Virtual directory would allow you to create custom templates that differ from one install to another. These installs would use the same host url, so there is no additional charge. In the Profiler config, you would use differing Profiler Admin lists and custom templates. So depending on who you are and which Profiler url you use to login, the templates will be different.

=====Examples:

How to control what User (vs Profiler Admins) gets to see which templates by only giving each User the URL you want them to have.

Give Joe and all the other basic employees this url: :mydomain.com\Profiler-AverageUser\profiler.cgi

Give all the Managers this url :mydomain.com\Profiler-Managers\profiler.cgi

There is no way to stop Joe from logging into the Manager’s Profiler, however, since Joe is not a Profiler Admin in the Manager config, he wouldn’t be able to do anything but update his own record.
