Windows 2008 - System DSN does not appear in ODBC Connection tab

Category:Active Directory

Download PDF version

On your Windows 2008 Server, when running the
Admin Tools > Data Source (ODBC)

This runs the 64 bit version of the ODBC Data Sources.

If you create a 64 bit ODBC Data Source, it will not show up in a SimpleSync connection (GUI Source/Dest tab DSN drop down box).

SimpleSync uses the 32 bit version of ODBC.  You must create a 32 bit ODBC Data Source.

On the Windows 2008 Server, go to a cmd prompt and run odbcad32.exe.

%systemdrive%\Windows\SysWoW64\odbcad32.exe

Recreate the desired System DSN here.

Then return to SimpleSync. You should see the DSN is now available...
