SimpleSync Admin tool (GUI) Problems

No longer applicable In some instances, problems have been reported running SimpleSync on Windows 2000 SP4 and Windows 2003. This includes problems where the execution of SimpleSync.exe fails to start the Admin tool. Another symptom is Sim and/or Sync may fail to run when executed from the GUI (command line execution usually works ok).

If you experience such problems, please run through the following steps and contact Support@dirwiz.com for further assistance.

If running SimpleSync on Windows 2003: If you are unable to launch the SimpleSync Admin tool (GUI): Check the Properties of the SimpleSync.exe program (located in \SimpleSync-v#\Programs). On the Compatibility tab, make sure the following option is enabled: “ Allow non-administrators to run this program ” . (In many cases, you will not be logging into the server as an Admin, and if this is disabled, then SimpleSync can only be run when logged in as an Admin.)

If you are able to launch the GUI, but some of the phases (Discovery, Sim, Sync) fail to execute (When run via the GUI, and/or when run as a scheduled task): Verify the status of the “Allow non-administrators to run this program” property for ALL executables in the \SimpleSync-v#\Programs directory.

If the above suggestion doesnt resolve the problem or if you are not running Windows 2003, please proceed as follows:

1. Make sure the recently installed version was installed to a brand new install directory, not over an existing installation of SimpleSync. If necessary, back up the existing install directory and then do a fresh install.

2. Execute Start/Run/%temp%. Select all and Delete, then Reboot.

3. Close all other user programs.

4. Run SimpleSync again and see if the same problem occurs.

What is the Screen Resolution and Depth
