Obsolete as of UnitySync

UnitySync’s "Resource Forest" solution was developed for the Application Service Provider (ASP)  who will host their clients Exchange 200x server but are not allowed to join their forest. As a result, the ASP must use their own forest and establish a one-way trust with the client.

Without UnitySync creation of accounts, linking to the forest, and synchronization is a manual and tedious undertaking. UnitySync includes the ability to provide for account creation, privilege assignments, maintenance, and directory synchronization to a separate forest via a trust relationship.

Implementing Resource Forest solution:

1) In your Ex200x environment, you must implement Resource Forest for Exchange, with trusts.

2) UnitySync must be installed in one of the Ex200x forests.

3) Using UnitySync, create a connection to your Ex200x directory,  select a Destination Map Template of ActiveDir-User (Resource Forest).

4) Select your Connection and look for Raw Config on the Custom tab.
Add the following parameter: ResourceForest=YES

5) Create a Custom Map File and modify the useraccountcontrol mapping to read as follows. This will allow UnitySync to create disabled accounts: useraccountcontrol=514

6) Run the Exchange Info (Discover Forest) process to identify the appropriate mail store and add the mail store mappings to your Custom Map File.

7) When implementing the Resource Forest Solution, the following mappings are required in your Custom Map File. If necessary, add or change your mappings to match those shown below:

msexchuseraccountcontrol=2
msexchmasteraccountsid;binary=[objectsid;binary]
mailnickname=~smtpname~

8) UnitySync does not sync passwords.  By default the destination User will have a blank password.  You may set unicodepwd using a static or source variable if desired.
