Before enabling SSL on Windows 2000, you must install the Windows 2000 High Encryption Pack first.

Microsoft has an [[ms:Q247078|article]] which describes the steps needed to enable SSL for Windows 2000 Domain Controllers and Global Catalog servers.

Another Microsoft [[ms:Q321051|article]] describes how to enable LDAP over SSL with a third-party certificate authority (appiles to Windows 2000 and Windows 2003).
