The Oracle DB support has been removed from SimpleSync in the up and coming version.  The main reason of this was the API's restriction that it would only work with one version of the Oracle client at a time.  This was an enormous pain because each version of SimpleSync could ONLY support one version of the Oracle client.  So we threw our hands up and chucked the whole set of code.  Problem solved..

At this point the Oracle customers have now come back to their computers after falling out of their chairs.. 

The answer is pretty elegant -- ODBC.  Oracle ships ODBC drivers for every flavor of Windows.  The nice thing about ODBC is code once and walk away.  The ODBC code has been massaged a bit to better fit with the ODBC Oracle drivers.  In fact we have an existing customer using the patched code with great success. 

So the rule of thumb for those current Oracle users is ... Do nothing.  Wait for the next release to come out.  The Oracle code will be gone but the ODBC support will be there so you can make the easy transition.

We are now seven months into the acquisition of SimpleSync from CPS Systems and we have reached an amazing milestone.  We now have 200 customers who are active with maintenance!  Our largest fear was that we would lose customers as part of the transition.  Imagine my surprise at the outpouring of responses we have received for maintenance renewals and new product purchases.  To put this into perspective we have more current active customers in 7 months than CPS Systems has EVER had!

We are both excited and humbled by this latest news.  As a reward to those customers we have redoubled our efforts to get version 5.0 of SimpleSync out the door as soon as possible.  The next release promises more features, more supported systems and a faster sync engine!

This has been quite a ride this year with the acquisition of SimpleSync.  Our original product, Profiler has seemingly been neglected.  Fear not.  Work is underway on the next release with lots of improvements.  To that end we have two announcements regarding Profiler:

• We will be no longer supporting versions less v5.1.0 as of January 1 2009.  The current version is v5.2.1.  Those customers who are current on their software maintenance can get the latest version for free.
• Effective immediately, software maintenance from Profiler will increase from 10% of list price/year to 15% of list price/year.  This increase is more in keeping in line with industry prices.   We will honor all outstanding quotes and invoices sent prior to today.
